Old tales speak of an undead bride—ghastly in appearance, wandering the lands in her ragged wedding regalia, hellbent on some kind of revenge. Her undead servant, bound forever, an imposing ink-black spectre, ready to wreak havoc on those that try to harm his mistress.
However, as with many tales, there are many untold chapters. . .
History
Kalopsia, known as the Spectral Bride, is an undead Elf, wandering the land with her husband-to-be, Tarathiel. With a heart as kindly and loving as it is, one would assume Kalopsia to be amongst the living. Though her body has long gone cold, Kalopsia is of warm temperment. A smile and a helping hand is what she is known for despite being a fiend.
Having a natural affinty towards wizardry and necromancy as a young girl, Kalopsia often inadvertently brought creatures like insects and roadkill back to life, binding them to her will. Eventually as she aged, she realized her power, and grew her skill enough that she could revive larger animals and freshly-dead humanoids.
As a young adult, Kalopsia fell in love with Tarathiel, the local noble-hearted librarian. It was a whirlwind romance, culminating in a wedding soon to be had. A romantic and idealist at heart, she longed to have her father walk her down the aisle, but unfortunately, he had been long dead. Confident in her skill, she and Tarathiel go to his grave and attempt to bring him back for the ceremony.
The spell backfired, ending her life, and rendering Tarathiel into what could be described as nothing other than "spirit goop." Despaired and at a loss, Kalopsia begins on a journey to gain knowledge on how to reverse the spell.
