MY KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOR. . .

My best friend, my rock, my knight in shining armor! Poopy has been there for me through everything, the highs and lows of my health and mental wellness. He's patient and kind, goofy and friendly, noble-hearted and always willing to help--the ever shining light in the dark cloud that follows me around. I could go on and on and on waxing poetry about Poopy. He is my favorite person on this earth.

Although he brushes it off all the time, Poopy is the hardest working person I know. If it comes down to getting his hands dirty himself, he will do it. He has done so much, not only for me, but for my family as well. That is why we all adore him so much, he truly has a good and pure heart. We've been together since we had nothing, skirting the poverty line, spending days cutting coupons and eating cheap homemade pasta daily. But even back then, you still made me your number one priority and took care of me no matter what kind of stress you were under. I feel so lucky and blessed that I have you in my life, taking care of me, helping me grow, and just loving me in general. You always love me even when I can't love myself.

I can only hope that I give you the same peace and joy you've given me. We've been together so long, since we were so very young...it's a privilege to be by your side as we grow and age! The first gray hair I saw sprout out of your head made me realize that my childhood dream came true. My knight rescued me from that tower, and now we are growing old together—living our very own version of Happily Ever After.

ABOUT US. . .

The Couple

My friends jokingly describe us as an unlikely pairing—a good 'ol Southern boy with an accent as thick as the filling of a pecan pie, and a (goth) Valley girl with an aversion to the outdoors & all things Southern. I can't really say they are wrong though, haha.. Poopy is a Southern boy through and through. He likes to climb trees, get lost in the wilderness, go camping, shoot bows, etc. He was born in VA and raised in the South. I, on the otherhand, spent a good chunk of my formative years either living overseas in Asia or in California and am very much a gal who likes fashion brands and staying inside where I can enjoy the A/C. But what can we say? Opposites attract!

Personality-wise we are completely opposite on a surface level. Where he is friendly and a jokester, I am withdrawn and serious. But we both share a deep love for intellectual and philosophical conversation and can easily switch from discussions of what makes Existential Dread™ true horror, over to debating who is the Stinkiest and Silliest (spoiler: it's him. But maybe I am biased.)

MEMORIES. . .

Remember when. . .

☼ We met that humid summer night in July? We were so young! You took one look at me and walked right out the door! I thought you were so rude, but you were just struck by shyness. So cute. I'm glad we met that night.

☼ Spending hours and hours playing various couch co-op games? My fondest memories are times when we stayed up hours past midnight playing Little Big Planet and scarfing down cookies and chips, sharing laughs the entire night.

☼ When you proposed? It was one of the most amazing moments of my life. I had no idea why my sister was in town, or why we were suddenly having a picnic. But when you left to "take a call" and appeared in the field on a horse, I was so shocked the only thing I could do was shriek!! You know how much I love fairytales and fantasy stories of knights and princesses, and there you were in shining silver armor on top of a beautiful brown horse. When you dismounted and got down on one knee, the only thing I could do was cry.

☼ When we went to Ruby Falls? I had so much fun. I still think about it a lot. I want to go back with you when we are old and grey so we can see if we can still cross those rickety bridges and hobble up and down the mountain paths.

☼ We went to see the Distant Worlds concert right after work? I was so tired. But so happy. You always make the biggest sacrifices for me. Just to see me smile! It was my dream since I was a kid to be able to hear Uematsu Nobuo's music live. And you made it happen! ♥

☼ You got out of a late class at 10PM one night and we hopped in the car to travel hours away to pick up my sister for the weekend? I was so worried and upset over her situation and you didn't hesitate to drive so late at night even though I know you had to have been exhausted. And you didn't only do it just for me—you genuninely love and care about my sister too. It made me warm knowing that you love her so much you had to make sure she was safe.

☼ When I tried my hand at baking and made you that strawberry rhubarb pie while we were in the midst of packing up our second apartment? I was too excited to have you try it and served it to you before it properly cooled. You still ate that goopy mess up with a smile though.

☼ That time we tried to have a nice moment and watch the sunset at the bay? We were only together for a short time but I knew in my heart that you would be my forever, because we were able to laugh and joke about how awful it smelled out there (like garbage, yuck!) while still enjoying the sight.

HIS WORKSHOP. . .

Poopy's Workshop

His current workshop! I really love this space, it's fun! The theme currently is: Retro & Fallout. It's still a work in progress.

He requested that I paint myself as a Nuka Cola pinup girl. I think it's a little embarassing but he really adores this piece and proudly shows it off to anyone he can (because in his words "I just LOVE MY WIFE!!") haha!

OUR ARCADE. . .

We worked on this together and I really love how it turned out!

WHY THE NAME . .

Poopy?

I nicknamed him Poopy because of something really silly. The first night I hung over at his place, he mentioned having to poop. As a Proper Lady™, I could never. I don't know why but it was really funny to me at the time so I called him Poopy and the name stuck!

He calls me Button because he says I'm as cute as a button. I adore my nickname!

There were early nicknames that did not stick around long (Bagel/Cupcake and I'm sure many more that I can't remember because they aren't that memorable) but I can't complain because I feel like Poopy and Button suits us perfectly.
